What’s Happening at the Historians?

“Salt Train above East Thetford” Worcester Salt Company sent a train each year from which small bags of salt were thrown to bystanders-an advertising stunt.

All Aboard!! Trains will be running again Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Stop by!

New Exhibit –  Trains: Trade, Transportation and Toys!

100 years of photos, fun facts and an absolutely terrific antique model train set and ready to roll ( many thanks to Karl Furstenberg).  Come learn about the impact of trains on Lyme. To learn more: Museum Page

Chesley Schoolhouse – Open! The last Sunday of the month through the summer – July 31 3-5p.m., Aug 28 3-5p.m., Sept 25 2-4p.m

 

Location: 161 Baker Hill Rd.

Basically unchanged since it closed its doors in 1959.  19th – 20th c. desks and books from Lyme schools, the old bell from the Hewes Schoolhouse, and photos all displayed along with the old blackboards and walls.  Children accompanied by an adult welcome!  (Best for ages 5 and up)
